MicroPayments must provide its read-only content entitlement helper for protected item purchases and creator tiers. Keep the supplying plugin active; deactivating it does not publish retained paid media. Direct myCred Sell Content restrictions stored on video posts are not supported by the media authorizer in this release and remain unavailable, including for a user with another role grant. Use MicroPayments item purchases or creator subscriptions instead; existing sale records are retained.

Paid Broadcast channel access supports the native myCred Sell Content add-on with one default point type, manual channel offers and a verified site-local log. Current timed and lifetime receipts are checked, while expired or removed receipts do not grant video access. Shared network logs, additional payment types, missing modules and unverified native contexts remain unavailable. Do not move or duplicate historical receipts between sites to bypass this requirement. These checks do not purchase, renew, issue refunds or settle payments.

External Service Dependencies

Video management and playback do not require a VideoWhisper hosting account. Media processing requires compatible hosting with FFmpeg; separately purchased hosting or installation is optional.

Advertising is disabled until an administrator supplies an ad tag. With Google IMA selected, the visitor’s browser loads Google’s IMA SDK from https://imasdk.googleapis.com/ and requests ads from the configured ad tag. These requests can send IP address, browser/device information, referring/page URLs, ad identifiers and playback/ad interaction events to Google and the configured advertising provider. Configure the site’s consent/privacy choices before enabling ads. Google requires the SDK to be loaded from its own domain. IMA service terms, Google privacy policy.

The VAST option contacts the administrator-configured advertising endpoint from the visitor’s browser instead of loading the IMA service. That provider’s terms, privacy policy, tracking and eligibility depend on the selected endpoint. Optional HLS/streaming servers likewise receive playback requests, IP/browser details and requested media URLs. The site operator configures these services and their policies; no provider account is created automatically by this plugin. Optional payment plugins communicate with their own selected providers under their respective documentation.

Bundled UI/player scripts and fonts load locally. Fomantic’s remote Twemoji image mappings use native Unicode glyphs instead, so selecting an emoji or flag does not request a third-party image. Native glyph appearance varies by platform. Source/build/license references are in interface/semantic/SOURCE.txt and video-js/SOURCE.txt.

Localization

This release is English-first and includes a current translation template, with no bundled translated locale catalogs. The old generic English PO/MO from 2017 are not a complete locale and are retained outside the release as development history. Existing WordPress.org/community or site-supplied language packs may still translate some messages. Video.js supplies its own player-language resources; those do not establish full plugin translation coverage. Future bundled translations may be generated and reviewed by AI agents and should be reviewed for the site’s use, especially access, billing and consent wording.

Special Hosting Requirements

• FFmpeg and HTML5 codecs are required to generate snapshots, preview clips and convert videos to HTML5 formats. Latest FFmpeg is recommended with video & audio codecs for HTML5 & video types you plan to upload.
• Conversions require important resources like CPU time, memory, long process time (not available on budget shared hosting). These must be available and enabled for the account processes.
• High upload size and script timeout limits on web host to allow uploading bigger files. Importing videos (uploaded with FTP or other tools) is recommended for very big files.
• CloudFlare or similar services are not recommend due to upload limitations. Will usually break bigger uploads.
• Optionally, to deliver videos as live streaming a server like Wowza SE is required that will provide access at a HLS address from video path.
• Optionally, plugin can also generate static HLS segments, using extra disk space and initial processing resources.
